The southeastern part of Koh Panghan is the main party area which includes Had Rin and the fullmoon party beach. Most of the area surrounding Haad Rin is mountains making most of the fantastic fine white sandy beaches unaccessable by road, the only way to get to them is by boat from HaadRin. The weather condition in Thailand can be highly tropic, hot and damp. Most of the time weather changes are caused by monsoons which create 3 distinguishable climate seasons in Northern and Central Thailand and two contrasting seasons in southerly part of the Kingdom of Thailand. The south-west monsoon approx May to October is warm and cloudy, whereas in the northeast monsoon around November to Mar is bone dry and relatively cool. Lying only 18 km north of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand is the island of Koh Phangan. The Island is much quieter and laid back than Koh Samui, only with the exception of the Full Moon party where every month around 5 - 10,000 visitors come on the island for the over crowded full moon party in Haad Rin. No question, Ko Phangan has some of most postcard like beaches anywhere in Thailand.

The most visited of the beaches, Haad Rin and Chaloklum always have a scattering of sun worshipers but there's also less visited, more hidden bays and beaches. Ko Phangan's monthly Full Moon Party is the world's best known beach party, with international DJ's from across the globe lining up to get the honor of playing. The island is approximately 2 1/2 hours from Surat Thani Province and about 50 min. from Koh Samui Island by ferry. If you do not like laying at the beach maybe experience something else. The island offers some activities like wake boarding, ATV Rentals, Elephant Trekking, Mountain Treking, Snorkeling, Muay Thai, Yoga,a Chinese Temple and Thai Cooking Lessons. Koh Phangan is a amazing paradise with a lot of swaying palms and bright turquoise waters.

Kho Phangan offers to the visitor natural bays and mountains, some are only reachable by a treck through jungle paths or hiring a boat. You can use the concrete roads to HadRin, but you have been warned that the roads are not in the best condition and unless consider yourself a good motorcycle rider then do not try to get to HadRin, as nearly all accidents involving scooters happen in this area. Our advice is to leave your motorcylce at the seven eleven at Ban Tai and pay approx 60 Baht for a taxi over the hills to HaadRin. If you do not like laying at the beach maybe experience something else. Koh Phangan Island has as well a selection of luxury resorts to offer, for example Salad Buri Resort or Sunset Cove. All of them have a very good service and can be recommended to everyone able to afford them.
